South Korean prosecutors seek 20-year prison sentence for Delio CEO in $190 million fraud case According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korean prosecutors have sentenced Chung Sang ho, CEO of Delio, a cryptocurrency lending service operator, to 20 years in prison for allegedly stealing approximately 250 billion Korean won (approximately 190 million US dollars) of virtual assets from around 2800 victims. Delio suddenly suspended withdrawals on June 14, 2023, after using high interest rates as bait to attract investors to deposit cryptocurrency assets. The prosecutor pointed out that the defendant's active fraudulent behavior and false advertising led to a large number of victims and huge losses, and the defendant has always avoided responsibility and adopted a non cooperative attitude. Chung Sang ho and his defense lawyer expressed their deep sense of responsibility and will do their best to compensate the victims if acquitted. The first instance verdict will be announced on July 16th.
