[Hong Kong SFC Investment Committee Document: Trading Activities or Contracts in Prediction Markets Are Not Investment Products]
Odaily Planet Daily News - The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) Investment Committee published an article titled 'Understanding the Nature of Investment Through Prediction Markets,' which pointed out: Prediction markets are speculative markets created for the purpose of making predictions. The trading activities or contracts in prediction markets are not investment products. Their main characteristics include: events that can be predicted, trading operations, trading prices, returns, etc. Investors should carefully consider the value of the investment, asset allocation, as well as regulatory and protection measures before making any investment decisions.
The Hong Kong Investment Committee stated that public participation in trading activities within prediction markets is not protected by the Securities and Futures Ordinance or any regulations enforced by the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission. In the event of issues, it may be difficult or even impossible to seek recourse.
