[France Prosecutes 88 Suspects for 'Wrench Attacks' Targeting Cryptocurrency Holders] According to Cointelegraph, Vanessa Perrée, France's national prosecutor for combating organized crime, stated that 88 individuals have been prosecuted for allegedly carrying out 'wrench attacks' targeting cryptocurrency holders. Among them are 10 minors, with 75 suspects placed in pre-trial detention. The cases involve 12 incidents currently under investigation by examining magistrates at the Paris court. 'Wrench attacks' refer to the use of violence, such as home invasions and kidnappings, to gain access to victims' cryptocurrency wallets. Perrée noted that some suspects are linked to multiple cases, revealing the existence of a structured network. The investigation is ongoing to identify all perpetrators and masterminds. Records from France's national office for combating organized crime show 18 such incidents in 2024, 67 in 2025, and 47 so far in 2026.
