Anthropic quietly employed a big trick. Claude Code has launched the Routines feature - you can package a prompt, GitHub repository, and MCP connector into an automated task, throw it to the cloud, and run it continuously even after shutting down. There are three triggering methods: timed running (as fast as once per hour), API call (triggered directly by monitoring alarms), and GitHub event (automatically reviewed as soon as PR is opened). Three types can be stacked on the same routine. That is to say, you can have Claude automatically inspect the code repository every morning, perform security checks on new PRs, run smoke tests automatically after deployment, and even port an SDK with PR to another language SDK to open PR. Routine runs without approval pop ups and is completely autonomous, capable of running shells, adjusting connectors, and pushing code. By default, only branches with the claude/prefix can be pushed (afraid of you crashing). At present, in the research preview stage, Pro/Max/Team/Enterprise is available, and each account has a daily limit on the number of runs. Anthropic made his own cloud based AI agent scheduler.
