Iran plans to charge fees for the Strait of Hormuz. Whether this plan actually gets implemented comes down to the difference between wanting to do it, being able to do it, and actually doing it. Just like Trump mentioned today, if Iran starts charging passage fees in the Strait of Hormuz, the U.S. will 'strike back swiftly.' Honestly, it’s all just testing the waters. Right now, the U.S. absolutely cannot accept Iran charging fees for the Strait of Hormuz. We talked about this a while ago—if Iran really starts charging passage fees, it’s basically like paying protection money to Iran. The U.S. won’t accept it, and Gulf countries won’t accept it either. It’s almost the same as the U.S. withdrawing from the Gulf region.
