Macquarie: Cautious Outlook on Optimistic Expectations for the Upcoming "Peace Agreement" in the Middle East

Odaily Planet Daily News – Macquarie Bank global strategists Thierry Wizman and Gareth Berry stated in a report that it is still too early to hold overly optimistic expectations that a "peace agreement" in the Middle East will be reached in the coming days, as the demands of both sides still appear difficult to reconcile. The idea that the U.S. would abandon its demands regarding Iran's nuclear assets or completely withdraw its bases in the Gulf region seems unrealistic. At this stage, it is also unlikely to see Iran relinquish its support for its proxy forces. However, this war is unlikely to continue beyond mid-April, as by then, Iran's threat is likely to be neutralized. Once the threat is eliminated, the U.S. will hold the upper hand in any subsequent negotiations. (Jin10)
