Your Government, in collaboration with the Public Procurement Commission, is strengthening support for small businesses by helping them register as government suppliers and better understand how to compete for contracts. Minister Williams also noted that the Government plans to implement the public procurement set-asides framework, which will reserve portions of government contracts specifically for Jamaican MSMEs, particularly micro and small enterprises with lower annual turnover. Efforts are underway to improve the supplier registration system and maintain a verified list of qualified MSMEs, making it easier for public bodies to identify and work with eligible small businesses. These initiatives are intended to expand opportunities for Jamaican entrepreneurs and ensure government procurement contributes to inclusive economic growth.(Andrew Holness)
