[U.S. SEC Dismisses Charges Against Justin Sun and TRON Foundation, Rainberry Agrees to Pay $10 Million Fine]
According to The Block, based on the final judgment issued by the Southern District Court of New York on Thursday, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has dismissed the charges it filed in 2023 against TRON founder Justin Sun, the TRON Foundation, and the BitTorrent Foundation. Rainberry, the company under Justin Sun that developed the BitTorrent protocol and the BTT token, has been fined $10 million in civil penalties and has agreed to permanently refrain from engaging in fraudulent securities market activities. In 2023, the SEC accused Justin Sun and his related companies of unregistered sales of TRX and BTT tokens, as well as manipulating TRX prices through wash trading. Rainberry's fine primarily pertains to its alleged market manipulation activities. Since the Trump administration, the SEC has dismissed several lawsuits against crypto institutions.
