When the war started, the market was in a state of tension. Whether it was Tehran being attacked, Iran striking Dubai and Abu Dhabi, or even the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, the impacts were significant. The former caused concerns about extreme political instability, while the latter raised fears of rising oil prices and inflation. Although saying 'hope for world peace' might not mean much, I still hope that friends currently in war zones stay safe. War might be unavoidable, but what should be condemned is the collateral damage to civilians. While writing this, I saw news that Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei has died, and his body has been found. Multiple media outlets are reporting this. If it's true, the war might come to an end. This could also explain BTC's rebound. Since Trump took office, I've noticed that he really likes to stir things up on weekends. Maybe he thinks it minimizes the impact on the U.S. stock market, but for cryptocurrencies that operate 24/7, it's just unnecessary trouble. If I ever hear about potential incidents during the workweek, I'll probably try shorting risk assets and going long on gold over the weekend. Looking back at Bitcoin's data, trading activity actually increased over the weekend, but the trading volume didn't change much. This indicates that a small number of investors panicked and sold off, mainly due to geopolitical conflicts. Although Khamenei might already be dead, the negotiations between the U.S. and Iran are still incomplete. Hopefully, the fighting ends here. After all, it's still the weekend, and liquidity is terrible, so the volatility might not be over yet. We'll have to wait for Monday's two market openings to see what happens: one is the CME opening to gauge Asian investors' reactions, and the other is the U.S. stock market opening to see how American investors respond.
