The AI proxy economy is accelerating its takeoff!
*************Bookmark first Get up! *************
In 2026, AI agents will no longer be just tools, but "economic entities" that can autonomously spend money, make money, and trade. Today, we will introduce several differences similar to artifacts, allowing you to understand how they solve the pain points of proxy payments in one go. From infrastructure to applications, each has its own characteristics, but they all revolve around stablecoins, low friction payments, and security protection. ️
Previously difficult DeFi Lego could quickly solve the pain of stacking through agents and wallets.
First, let's talk about @ ponge-wallet : This is an AI exclusive wallet launched by @ ycombinator at the end of 2025, created by a former Stripe engineer, dedicated to allowing AI agents to "absorb" funds like a sponge and use them independently. The core is a code free tool that allows agents to quickly register, hold stablecoins (such as USDC), issue virtual cards, and process payments directly. Differences: It emphasizes enterprise integration, allowing sellers to easily sell services to "non-human customers", supports multi chain (Ethereum, Base, Solana), and has OpenClaw plugins for agents to automatically purchase data or services. Suitable for novice developers, the agent can operate independently after a single recharge, but it leans towards basic limit control in terms of security and does not have too complex DeFi integration. Early adopters were mostly in the crypto AI cross domain, with Solana ecosystem endorsement already in place.
Next, the x402 protocol ⚡ (Produced by Coinbase): This is not a wallet, but an open payment standard! Based on the HTTP 402 status code (Payment Required), if an AI agent requests an API and needs to pay, the server will respond with 402, and the agent will automatically pay with stablecoins and retry. The difference is extremely obvious: it solves the pain point of "high friction", without the need for human approval or account settings, designed specifically for machine to machine (M2M) transactions.
Compared to Sponge, it is more like an underlying protocol that can be embedded into any wallet (such as Coinbase Agenetic Wallets) and has processed over 50 million transactions. My strength is instant micro payment (sub cent level), which supports API paywalls and program resource access, but my weakness is that it relies on blockchain (such as Base chain), and although the fees are low, there may be delays. Stripe also integrates x402, allowing traditional enterprises to collect agency fees in USDC, and handle taxes and refunds. Enterprises love to use it because of its production growth, future proof!
Take another look at @ Justinsuntron's @ OfficialAINFT (Bank of AI) : This is a Web3 AI platform based on the TRON blockchain, which converts NFTs into interactive AI agents and issues exclusive tokens. The difference is that it not only makes payments, but also constructs a complete "proxy banking layer": supporting x402 and ERC-8004 (NFT identity standards), allowing agents to automatically play DeFi - lending, exchanging, income farming, and even identity management.
Compared to Sponge's simple wallet, AINFT is more like a full stack financial system, with a multi-agent framework (MAS) that allows multiple agents to collaborate; With over 400000 users, it has expanded to BNB Chain. Unique feature: Each agent has its own token for governance and economic incentives, suitable for DeFi heavy players. But the disadvantage is that it is chain specific (TRON master), weak across chains, and token fluctuations may bring risks. Recently launched Bank of AI, with agents capable of on chain autonomous operation, highly suitable for NFT-AI fusion projects!
Other similar tools supplement:
-AgentWallet (on Solana) : Similar to Sponge, but with a greater emphasis on trustless hosting and spending restrictions. Difference: Built in 27 MCP (Model Context Protocol) tools allow agents to not only make payments, but also optimize context learning; Support x402 and emphasize the role of economic participants. Safer than Sponge (with KYT screening for high-risk transactions), but limited to the Solana ecosystem, suitable for high-speed, low fee demand. Weakness: Does not support multiple chains and has poor scalability.
-@ AnomalPay (Base Chain Private Beta) : Focusing on privacy and beta testing, the difference lies in privacy - using zero knowledge proof to hide transaction details, supporting x402 but with additional layers of encryption. Suitable for companies that are sensitive to data privacy, but currently not publicly available and have a high threshold for adoption.
- @blazpaylabs : AI driven financial partners, the difference lies in automated trading+portfolio tracking, and instant encrypted payments. Higher level than x402, with built-in AI decision-making but not focused on proxy identity, suitable for individual users rather than large-scale proxy economy.
- BluWhale : Intelligent revenue manager, focusing on DeFi strategy automation. Difference: Optimize proxy revenue (such as yield farming), support x402, but more like a tool than a wallet; The weakness is high risk, suitable for advanced users.
Summary of differences: Sponge is simple and easy to use (YC style); X402 Basic universal (payment standard); AINFT full stack DeFi (token economy); AgentWallet Security High Speed (Solana specialization).
In just a few weeks, these tools will explode from the end of 2025, solving problems such as human approval and account friction, with many tokens incentivizing the ecosystem. But the challenges lie in regulation, security, and cross chain. Is AI+Crypto going to change the world? Which one have you used? Share your insights! AIAgents CryptoPayments mbkVIBE
