Noticed no one’s talking about Apple’s recent official launch of Apple Creator Studio. What’s interesting about this is that Apple seems to be building a closed-loop AI content creation ecosystem through the combination of its N1 chip hardware barrier and the Creator Studio (a super subscription toolkit) software. Think about it—Apple used to focus solely on selling hardware like Macs and iPads to creators, while most creators relied on software ecosystems like Adobe for their work. Apple was basically just a middleman, with the big cash flow being scooped up by software service providers like Adobe. Now, with Creator Studio, Apple is essentially opening its own all-in-one direct store, taking over all those profitable, detail-oriented tasks for itself. How can they pull this off? The wireless N1 chip gives Apple devices hardware priority. For example, when you use Creator Studio on an iPad, you can directly and seamlessly leverage the computing power of a nearby Mac for rendering with low latency. But if you switch to using Adobe on a Mac, you’ll encounter more friction and lose that silky-smooth experience at the hardware level. What’s even more intriguing is Apple’s disruptive $12.99 pricing, clearly aiming to undercut Adobe with a non-profit-driven approach. After all, Apple’s main revenue driver has always been hardware. At the end of the day, companies like Adobe and OpenAI are still operating on the logic of “local software interaction + cloud-based AI processing,” which has traditionally been a weak point for Apple’s closed ecosystem. It seems Apple is intentionally trying to create a new closed-loop ecosystem for creators by combining “custom hardware + deeply integrated software + local model edge computing” to make up for its shortcomings in AI development, especially in large models. Watch closely—while Apple may be behind in AI strategy for now, this approach of defining software through hardware might just help it pull off a surprise comeback one day.
