[CME Plans to Launch 100-Ounce Silver Futures Contract on February 9]
Odaily Planet Daily News – CME announced on Tuesday that it plans to launch a 100-ounce silver futures contract on February 9, 2026, pending regulatory approval. Jin Hennig, Managing Director and Global Head of Metals at CME, stated: 'Against the backdrop of rising geopolitical uncertainty and accelerated energy transition, silver is increasingly favored by retail traders looking to diversify across a broader range of metal assets. The launch of the 100-ounce silver futures contract will enhance market accessibility, enabling more traders to benefit from the liquidity and efficiency offered by our futures market.' Robinhood Markets Vice President and General Manager of Futures and International Business JB Mackenzie noted: 'This new futures contract introduced by CME provides customers with a way to participate in silver trading with a lower capital threshold, offering traders greater flexibility.'
