VanEck is going wild today. In their newly released outlook report, their conservative estimate for BTC's price in 2050 is $2.9 million per coin, and their optimistic estimate is $53.4 million . But seriously, a lot of people often see these seemingly badass big institutions making wild price predictions, and it feels super counterintuitive. Like, aren’t these institutions supposed to be staffed by some of the smartest people in the world? How can they just say whatever comes to mind?
The key is that they make money from management fees, not from returns. They’re only responsible for scale, not performance. Their prediction reports aren’t meant to be accurate—they’re meant to be marketing tools to go viral. The more exaggerated, the more attention they get, and the more they build their brand. So later, when someone wants to buy BTC, they’ll think of them. Just like this tweet of mine—damn it, I unknowingly gave them free advertising again.
