Let me see, who’s still sneaking around, digging and digging in the vast salty wasteland?! Last year, I mentioned a report from overseas titled *"China Never Banned Bitcoin Mining"*, which shared a few key conclusions— 1⃣ Cambridge data shows that after the 2021 ban, mining hash power from mainland China briefly disappeared. But by 2022, hash power from China had returned to account for 21.1% of the global hashrate. Currently, Hashrate Index data shows it’s at 14%. 2⃣ Mining operations in mainland China now mainly rely on heat recovery and other renewable energy sources. There might be some mining activity in regions with cheap electricity like Xinjiang, Xi’an, Wuhan, Beijing, and Xining. 3⃣ Some insiders have revealed that as the economy slows down, certain local governments have issued special “mining permits,” inviting Bitcoin miners to help fill the gap caused by excess power supply. Looks like the rumors aren’t baseless!
