**[Ripple Executive: XRP Needs to Learn from Solana's Execution Speed and Strategy to Stay Ahead in L1 Competition]** Odaily Planet Daily News – Ripple's Global Head of Partnerships, Luke Judges, stated that if XRP Ledger (XRPL) wants to maintain its advantage in the new round of Layer 1 competition, technical strength alone is not enough. It urgently needs to learn from Solana in terms of execution speed, developer experience, and market strategy. He pointed out that Solana's appeal lies in "practical engineering and rapid implementation," rather than the protocol design itself. Judges, who previously operated validator nodes in the Solana ecosystem with a scale exceeding $30 million, believes that the success of L1 networks is often driven by "pragmatism and speed" rather than theoretical technical superiority. He emphasized that while XRPL has made progress in advancing smart contracts and enhancing programmability, technical iterations must be paired with a clear go-to-market strategy to truly translate into competitive advantages. Ripple's Chief Technology Officer, David Schwartz, offered a different perspective. He stated that XRPL's core strengths lie in reliability, stability, and institutional-grade performance, which surpass chains that pursue extremely high throughput but lack stability. Schwartz believes that XRPL's consistency and high availability are better suited for real-world financial applications compared to "blindly chasing speed." Judges also highlighted the importance of developer tools, documentation, and onboarding processes, and pointed out that validator incentives and decentralization risks are critical for the sustained development of L1 networks. He noted that the current decline in the number of Solana validators serves as a warning for XRPL. Overall, Judges believes XRPL's future strategy should focus on three key areas: improving developer experience, enhancing the speed of technical implementation, and learning from competing chains' execution efficiency while maintaining reliability. He emphasized that this is not a criticism of XRPL but rather a necessary adjustment to address future competitive cycles. (Cointelegraph)
