Recently, the progress of ZK technology in the Ethereum ecosystem has exceeded expectations, especially with the recent breakthroughs in Succinct and Zkysnc.
Succinct's SP1 Hypercube can prove 99.7% of Ethereum L1 blocks in 12 seconds using 16 RTX 5090 GPUs, a 5-fold increase in efficiency compared to six months ago; ZKSync Airbend recently demonstrated that two 5090 GPUs can generate blocks for Ethereum L1.
Succinct optimizes low latency universal zkVM; ZKSync's Atlas/Airbend integration achieves sub second settlement+15k TPS (specifically referring to high-frequency payments/transfers, non generic); Brevis emphasizes cross chain data co processors. The efforts of the three have greatly promoted the progress of the entire Ethereum ZK ecosystem: all three are working towards building the ZK infrastructure stack: universal proof (Succinct)+efficient rollup (ZKSync)+data bridging (Brevis), promoting the evolution of the Ethereum ZK ecosystem from fragmentation to integration.
The above progress is just some data, what does it mean for the Ethereum ecosystem?
*Higher TPS
You can increase the gas limit with more confidence. Previously, ZK proved to be computationally intensive, requiring 50-160 high-end GPUs to process a block in 12 seconds. Nowadays, if we progress to the point where only two 5090 GPUs are needed, it means that the feasibility of proving larger blocks (higher gas limits) increases, resulting in a direct increase in L1 throughput without worrying about sacrificing decentralization.
*Cheaper
Especially L2 will become increasingly cheaper, with costs not only dropping to one cent, but even a fraction of a dollar. L2 fees like zksync will continue to decrease, and ordinary users may not even perceive it. With the upgrade of Fusaka in early December,

*ETH burning increases
After Fusaka in early December, Blob capacity increased. Although L2 fees will decrease, due to the guaranteed cost mechanism (EIP7918) after Fusaka upgrade, its combination with ZK technology has the opportunity to further promote the development of L2 applications. There will be more application chains like Lighter, and the increase in transaction scale has the opportunity to bring more ETH burning.
In summary, the Ethereum L1/L2 ecosystem has gradually shifted from being "expensive/slow" to "provable extensions". Succinct, Zksync, and Brevis have contributed to the overall expansion of the Ethereum ecosystem without sacrificing decentralization (and even facilitating the development towards a more decentralized direction).
From the perspective of ecological development, this has made important preparations for the Ethereum ecosystem, especially L2, to truly shift towards consumer applications. Future scenarios such as privacy DeFi, AI proxy economy, RWA, etc. will all benefit. The ecological evolution that follows will become increasingly interesting.
