Young people nowadays really have no chance at all?
Yesterday, while scrolling through a short video, I came across a blogger who made a bold statement stating that "young people nowadays have no chance at all." The video received thousands of likes and shares, indicating that this viewpoint has a huge and hidden impact on young people.
My viewpoint is exactly the opposite:
Every generation of young people has their own opportunities.
Now let's expand on it and see if what I'm saying makes sense.
Where are the opportunities for young people? I will also share my own opinions.
This blogger talked about several major opportunities in the past 50 years in the video.
For example, in the late 1970s, the college entrance examination was an opportunity. At that time, because of the serious talent gap caused by the unrest, many people were directly assigned to government departments and ministries after they were admitted to universities from rural areas. Later, they were one by one in high positions, and some even appeared in today's news broadcast.
In the 1980s, township enterprises were an opportunity, as a small workshop could do business throughout the city and even the whole province and country.
In the 1990s, leaving state-owned enterprises and venturing into the sea, or going south from the mainland to become a swindler and take advantage of the price difference of the dual track system, was a great opportunity, and many people became rich overnight.
Around 2000, China's real estate market launched a bull market that lasted for 20 years. It was easy to buy one property and settle down, and buying more would earn more money.
From 2000 to 2020, the Internet and mobile Internet dividends, large factories and small factories have created thousands of millionaires and multimillionaires.
This blogger said that the above era dividends have been seized by the post-50s, post-60s, post-70s, post-80s, and pre-95s respectively, but now the post-95s and post-00s have no opportunities when looking around.
Why do I say that the toxicity of this viewpoint is hidden? Because his arguments are all facts.
Young people inevitably feel discouraged after reading it, thinking that their generation is really unlucky. They are still working hard, trying hard, lying flat and begging.
Once lying flat, it is impossible to seize the opportunity that arises.
In fact, the viewpoint that 'young people nowadays really have no opportunities' is very absurd. Why? Because the opportunities he mentioned are all from today in 2025, when we look back, we can see them very clearly. It seems that anyone who travels back and seizes any opportunity can make a comeback and become rich.
The problem is that the young people who were among them at that time did not possess the knowledge we have today.
This is where his viewpoint is absurd.
Look at the parents of most of us. In those times when opportunities abound today, our parents were young people at that time. They did not become cadres of national ministries, township entrepreneurs, landlords or founding partners of the Internet.
Why?
Because most young people in that era were also lost and lamenting.
They missed the opportunity without realizing it.
Today's young people are the same, aren't they?
So, this blogger's daily use of such misleading words to gain traffic is also lacking in virtue.
Alright, now everyone will definitely ask, Mr. Ge, what are the opportunities for young people today?
Of course, I see more young colleagues. I can't finish calling their names in a minute after I got 95 big results on official account, Xiaohongshu, video number Tiktok and station B.
There are also traditional industries, but not as many.
As for whether these opportunities belong to you or not, I don't know. As I just said, any opportunity can only be determined if it's yours after looking back in 5 or 10 years.
But I can firmly say that there is always an opportunity in any era, and once again, in any era, as long as this country is developing its economy without fighting, there will always be an opportunity.
This is not a lie. I have a 15-year-old son who will go to college in 3 years. When he goes to college in 3 years and graduates in 7 years, where are the opportunities?
I don't know either.
But there must be opportunities, he has to try, take risks, and make mistakes on his own.
This is also what I have always advocated, regardless of which industry young people will engage in in the future, having some business experience and knowledge is very necessary.
Tell a true story about opportunities for young people.
My friend, when she was in college 10 years ago, liked to buy magazines at the newsstand outside the school, but the magazines were very expensive, costing 10 yuan per copy. She really wanted to read them. What should she do?
She asked a few more questions, and the boss told her that it costs 10 yuan to buy the magazine for the current period, and only 1 yuan if the magazine expires.
So every time she waited for the magazine to expire, she happily spent 1 yuan to buy it back and brought it back to her dormitory to read.
Soon she discovered something, the magazine she bought was also loved by other girls, and many people asked her to borrow it.
Naturally, she turned this into a business opportunity, renting a magazine to her classmates for 50 cents at a time, and a magazine can be rented out many times.
Buy different expired magazines again, buy several at once and bring them back for rent.
That's how she earned a lot of money by renting books during her college years.
Although she found a new job after graduation and couldn't continue renting books, she told me that her small experience of renting books became her business enlightenment, which greatly helped her in her future work and money making experience.
Alright, I've finished speaking.
Next, I would like to break down why she was able to capture this small business opportunity?
I think there are three reasons.
Firstly, she is a college student, so she has existing clients with similar needs, namely dormitory classmates.
Secondly, she took the initiative to inquire about the scarce information of selling expired magazines at a discount.
Thirdly, she did not stop at reading magazines on her own, but used business thinking to explore customer needs and constructed a simple and effective business model, which is low-priced rental.
Is it difficult to detect this opportunity now?
It's not difficult to put it simply, it's right beside me. So, if you were to ask me, where are the opportunities for young people today? My answer is these two words: by my side.
Opportunities are around us, and young people in every era are confused and confused, but opportunities are really around every generation of young people.
For example, have the young people who used to be our parents sighed many times, sighing that when a friend around them did something and eventually succeeded, they didn't have the courage to take that step themselves?
Opportunities are right around us, every generation is one.
If you think there is really no chance around you, it only means that your surroundings are not far enough.
My suggestion is, either you have more opportunities in physical areas such as larger cities and more thriving industries.
Alternatively, you need to approach those who always believe there is still a chance spiritually, blend in with their circle, and see what others are busy with. Perhaps, who knows, opportunities arise in some casual communication.
No one is forever young, but there will always be young people.
Only young people who always believe in opportunities and actively seek them will never lack opportunities.
Finally, I have one more reminder.
I remember Lei Jun once said that when Yahoo was at its peak, it was not the second Yahoo that defeated Yahoo, but Google. When Google was at its peak, it was not the second search engine that defeated Google, it must be something else.
So this reminder is that if young people want to make a name for themselves, they should not stay in places where the elderly gather.
