According to Wu Blockchain, as reported by The Korea Times, South Korean crypto exchanges are facing revenue pressure due to the sharp market downturn, which has caused trading volumes to drop to their lowest point this year. Data shows that since November, the average daily trading volume of Upbit and Bithumb has been only around $1.88 billion, far below the January peak of $7.8 billion. Previously, driven by Bitcoin's bullish trend, the two exchanges saw their Q3 profits soar significantly: Upbit's parent company Dunamu reported an operating profit of 235.3 billion KRW (approximately $161.7 million), a year-on-year increase of 180%; Bithumb's operating profit also surged nearly 8 times to 70.1 billion KRW. However, as BTC fell to a six-month low and market sentiment shifted to "extreme fear," trading activity has noticeably shrunk.
