On the surface, it looked like a punk-style Useless NFT event, but in reality, it can also be seen as a practical demonstration of the x402 payment scenario: The mechanism is simple: users pay 1 USDC, which is automatically swapped into an equivalent amount of PING via Uniswap and locked into the NFT, redeemable anytime by burning it. But what's interesting is the variety of motivations among participants: some users joined with speculative expectations of Minting NFTs, some participated with small amounts just for fun, and others joined purely for the hype. But all of this translated into real buy pressure for PING (well played). Isn't the x402 payment scenario we advocate all about small, high-frequency, on-chain native payment needs? Ping's devs used this gamified Mint NFT experience to let many people unknowingly get a taste of the x402 payment process and mechanics.
