**[Goldman Sachs Forecast: U.S. Stock Market to Underperform Emerging Markets Over the Next Decade]**
Odaily Planet Daily reports that Goldman Sachs strategists predict U.S. stocks will continue to lag behind global markets over the next decade. Analyst Peter Oppenheimer and his team recommend investors diversify outside the U.S., as high stock valuations limit returns. They estimate the S&P 500 Index will deliver an annual return of 6.5% over the next 10 years, the weakest among all regions. Emerging markets are expected to perform the strongest, with an annual return of 10.9%.
After a decade of sustained outperformance driven by surging tech stocks and the AI boom, the S&P 500 Index has significantly lagged behind global peers this year. The benchmark index has risen 16%, while MSCI’s global index (excluding the U.S.) has climbed 27%. Strategists anticipate that emerging markets’ returns in the coming years will be driven by robust earnings growth in China and India. Japan’s annual return is projected to reach 8.2%, while Europe is expected to deliver an annual return of 7.1% for investors. (Jin10)
