These are all great questions about x402. I think the current design of the x402 Facilitator has some flaws. The main issue is that the Facilitator isn’t properly incentivized: U is transferred directly from the payer to the merchant, but the Facilitator covers the gas fees without any reward. Let me try to answer the questions: 1. Coinbase currently reviews transactions: This is unavoidable for now because Coinbase Facilitator is covering gas fees for users. Without reviewing, it could be hit by a DDOS attack and run out of gas. 2. Third-party facilitators are unstable: x402 is still in its early stages, and this will definitely improve in the future. However, if the incentive issue is resolved, more people will be willing to provide stable facilitator services. 3. Facilitator incentive issue: I’ve also asked the x402 developers how to incentivize facilitators. Their answer was to charge per use, like SAAS, but I’m not very satisfied with that response. We’re also exploring better incentive mechanisms.
