I ran into some confusion while working on the x402 service development process, which conflicts a bit with what I understood before: - Coinbase's Facilitator requires reviewing every transaction, which might be unacceptable for some developers, leading them to give up. - There aren’t many third-party Facilitator options available right now, and their stability isn’t as good as Coinbase. - Developers can self-host and run the Facilitator; however, they can also choose not to support x402 and just support token transfers directly (users would need to store some gas themselves). So for developers, the only benefit of supporting x402 is that the user experience might be slightly better since users don’t need to store gas. The downside is that the range of supported assets is reduced, and it doesn’t support USDT on Base. I used to think x402 could lower the difficulty for developers integrating blockchain, but when you consider how powerful Coding Agent already is, it doesn’t seem like such a big deal anymore.
