What does @anoma mean by Upward? When you hear the word blockchain innovation, your mind probably goes to faster L1s, cheaper L2s, modularity, ZK proofs, or new consensus models. And it’s true, crypto has come a long way. But here’s the real question? At what point do more chains stop moving us forward? When do we shift focus from building new roads to building the destinations people actually want to visit? That’s where Anoma idea of Upward comes in. 1) From Infrastructure Obsession to the App Layer Right now, Web3 feels like the PC world before Windows and Mac. Computers were powerful, but without an operating system, they were confusing, fragmented, and hard to use. In the same way, blockchain infra keeps evolving, but users still face Fragmentation across chains Awkward UX Developer friction Broken composability Anoma says :- let’s stop getting stuck in this teenage phase. It’s time to shift innovation upward, from infrastructure to the application layer. 2) What does Upward mean? Upward is moving beyond chain-level innovation and unifying everything under a single application layer. At its core, Anoma is an abstraction layer that hides the complexity of chains for builders and users. But it goes further. @anoma is also a coordination layer that unifies today and tomorrow blockchains into one seamless experience. Builders stop worrying about L1 vs. L2 wars. Users get a smooth, OS-like experience across chains. Infra can keep evolving in the background, but apps and experiences finally take center stage. Just like operating systems unlocked mainstream adoption of computers, @anoma wants to unlock mainstream adoption of blockchain by being the coordination layer that makes things simple, unified, and usable. 3) Why does it matter? Because marginal improvements at the base layer won’t win the next decade. Apps and experiences people love will. If Web3 is going to stop being crypto and start being the web, then the leap has to happen upward. And Anoma thesis is simple Infra is important, but apps are what people actually care about. Without an application layer, we stay stuck in complexity. To break through, we need ambition, moonshots, and experiences that feel like the future. The future of Web3 won’t be decided by the fastest chain, but by the best experiences. And those experiences will be built when we finally look upward!(Justin Wu π)
