Strategist: A few Federal Reserve officials may lower their expectations for interest rate cuts this year, enough to turn the tide

According to a report by Golden Finance, Matthew Ryan, head of market strategy at financial services firm Ebury, stated that the two rate cuts by the Federal Reserve in 2025 will still be the basic forecast for most policymakers. Given the severe uncertainty surrounding tariffs, they may not have enough confidence to substantially change their views. However, there is a risk that a few officials believe that this year's interest rate cuts are lower than previously expected, which may be enough to turn the tide and tend to only cut interest rates by 25 basis points in 2025. The hawkish dot plot and Powell's emphasis on the lack of urgency in lowering interest rates may provide some room for the US dollar to strengthen in the second half of this week.
