Often my conversations with Bitcoiners tend to drift toward statements like "we've never seen something like this before. no one has ever lived in an economy with money like this. these concepts are hard to grasp. you just aren't there yet, man. study bitcoin" and it is very hand wavey and dismissive. It assumes whatever knowledge we have from history is invalid. Bitcoin is an asset with pre-programmed issuance and a fixed terminal supply. It has built in rails to transact. It is capable of being money. These are cool, unique properties that are interesting to learn about. But Bitcoin DOES NOT rewrite all economic incentives just because it has a fixed supply. It doesn't rewrite all human nature and behavior just because it includes an immutable public ledger. We CAN infer from the past. Human nature is a CONSTANT. Stop with these dismissive tangents about "no one has ever seen this before". It is cope to keep the curious from critically dissecting how a proposition could be wrong. It is intellectual laziness.
