[Circle Plans to Expand into Approximately 50 Emerging Markets, Says Stablecoins Are Entering the Mainstream Scaling Phase] BlockBeats News, October 16: Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire stated that the demand for stablecoins has significantly increased in Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. The company plans to expand into approximately 50 emerging and developing markets. He noted that the industry is experiencing a turning point, 'transitioning from the early adoption phase of blockchain technology to the mainstream scaling phase.' Currently, USDC has a circulation of approximately $72.6 billion, accounting for about one-quarter of the stablecoin market, while Tether's USDT holds nearly 60%. Circle has agreed to acquire Singapore-based payment company Tazapay for $400 million, gaining access to local banking and payment networks in over 100 markets, which will help expand into regions traditionally dominated by USDT. Circle has also launched a blockchain called Arc, specifically designed for payments and financial transactions, and received approval from the U.S. Federal Trust Bank in July. Allaire stated that clearer regulations, including the U.S. 'GENIUS Act,' are encouraging broader adoption; banks are also developing their own digital currencies, which he welcomes. 'The banking industry has long succeeded in preventing others from entering, but I believe they are no longer dominant, and innovators are ushering in their era.' He also pointed out that the use of USDC by AI agents is growing. These software programs can independently make micropayments for information and online services.
