[White House Crypto Advisor Patrick Witt Departs, Clarity Act Legislation Stalled] According to a report by Jinse Finance, on October 15, there has been another personnel change at the senior level of the White House responsible for digital asset regulation. Patrick Witt has concluded his tenure as the White House's Chief Crypto Advisor. In an email sent to *The Block* on Wednesday, a White House official stated that Witt's "secondment period has ended" and expressed gratitude for his contributions to the Trump administration, wishing him success in his future endeavors. Previously, *Crypto In America* journalist Eleanor Terrett reported that Witt was an employee of the U.S. Department of Defense and held a temporary position on the White House Crypto Committee. As the Executive Director of the Presidential Digital Asset Advisory Committee, Witt led Washington's efforts to advance the comprehensive crypto legislation known as the *Clarity Act*. The House version of the bill was passed more than a year ago, after which Witt was responsible for coordinating negotiations in the Senate. However, the Senate version has faced multiple obstacles, including disagreements between the banking and crypto industries over how to handle stablecoin rewards, as well as how to address conflicts of interest arising from President Trump's substantial crypto holdings. The latter became the primary reason the bill failed to pass its first procedural vote last month. Democrats are concerned that, since enforcement actions against the president would be determined by the Department of Justice rather than individual states, the relevant provisions may not be effectively implemented. Witt is the third senior crypto official to leave the White House. David Sacks, the White House's head of crypto and artificial intelligence affairs, departed in March, stating that his 130-day term as a special government employee had ended. Witt's deputy director, Harry Jung, also left in July.
