[Stablecoin Market's $2 Trillion Target Delayed to 2030, Standard Chartered Says Supply Growth Stalled This Year]
Odaily Planet Daily News – Geoffrey Kendrick, Global Head of Digital Asset Research at Standard Chartered Bank, stated in a report on Wednesday that the stablecoin market is still expected to reach a scale of $2 trillion. However, due to stalled supply growth this year, the target timeline has been pushed back from 2028 to 2030. Over the past 12 months, the stablecoin supply has hovered between $300 billion and $320 billion, currently standing at approximately $309 billion.
The report noted that the average monthly on-chain transaction volume for stablecoins this year is close to $10 trillion, up from $4 trillion in 2025, with a single-month peak of approximately $19 trillion in May. The average monthly turnover rate has increased from about 15 times in 2025 to around 30 times. USDT's average monthly turnover is about 7 times, primarily used for dollar savings in emerging markets. Meanwhile, USDC's average monthly turnover has risen from approximately 45 times to about 80 times, with more usage in payments, financial transactions, and early-stage AI agent-to-agent payments.
