Storage is still in a downtrend. Narratively, it's being chased by Chinese storage competitors, but looking at the charts, it seems like it had already peaked and was due for a drop.
Take SanDisk as an example. Besides the recent narrative-driven downtrend and macroeconomic pressure, we also need to watch for the earnings report on 10/29. If it bottoms out before then and the 'Chinese horror story' narrative loses steam, a decent earnings report could trigger a rebound.
SPCX previously hit a rebound peak during the market hype around space computing power but has since fallen back. The 175 level is a key pivot point around its IPO, while the 220+ range was an irrational outlier driven by extreme hype, which will be hard to reach again. Unless external conditions improve and its self-sustaining ability is proven, it's unlikely to return to those levels in the short term.
On 10/25, SPCX will unlock another 330 million shares, and two trading days after the Q3 earnings report, about 1.3 billion more shares will be released. Such heavy selling pressure, combined with a declining broader market, could create another horror story.
In short, the downtrend window for various risk assets has opened. Don’t rush to enter the market—wait at least another week to reassess.
