Led by former FTX Europe head Patrick Gruhn, the Nasdaq-listed fintech company Perpetuals com has submitted a notice to the U.S. SEC, proposing to operate a tokenized securities trading platform under a 5-year 'innovation exemption' framework. This makes it the second company to apply for tokenized stock trading in the U.S., following the joint venture between OKX and the New York Stock Exchange parent company ICE.
The framework allows eligible platforms to trade U.S. stocks on public blockchains, with tokens granting holders the same dividend and voting rights as regular shares. Relevant companies have 30 days to raise objections. Perpetuals com plans to conduct trading through a permissioned automated market maker (AMM) liquidity pool, initially deployed on its Ethereum-compatible Layer 2 network, Kronos X Public. Tokenized stocks are expected to trade in USDC, with a potential launch as early as mid-November, though the company has not yet confirmed an official go-live date. (CoinDesk)
