《CPI Data Flash: Core Annual Rate Exceeds Expectations, BTC Drops Instantly ⚡️》
The U.S. core CPI annual rate for September rose to 2.6%, hitting a new high since June this year and exceeding the expected 2.5%. The core monthly rate came in at 0.3%, also above expectations.
After the data release, BTC quickly dropped from around 83K and is now priced at 82.8K.
Why did Bitcoin react with a drop?
Core inflation is more stubborn than expected, leading the market to reprice rate hike risks. While the probability of a rate hike in October remains low, expectations for a December hike are likely to strengthen. U.S. Treasury yields and the dollar may jump, putting pressure on risk assets.
Key levels:
The 80.9K level below serves as short-term support. If it continues to break down, the next stop is 78K-79K. On the upside, 83K-84.5K has turned into resistance.
Xiao Long’s core take:
Core CPI exceeded expectations, creating short-term bearish pressure. But don’t rush to short just yet—let’s see how the market digests this.
If BTC stabilizes around 80.9K, it means the bearish news has been partially priced in. If it breaks down quickly, 78K-79K will be the next level to watch.
However, based on on-chain data, even with bearish CPI news, the price might not drop significantly. The 80K level is a strong support zone.
