President Donald Trump announced that “massive” oil, gas, and mineral exploration is preparing to begin in Greenland. 🇬🇱 🇺🇸 The USGS has identified 31 billion barrels of oil equivalent sitting under Northeast Greenland, the island ranks eighth in the world for rare earth deposits critical to defense and technology supply chains, and right now China is the dominant processor of those same rare earths that American manufacturers depend on. Trump is not fantasizing about Greenland’s value; the geological surveys already did that work for him. The real question is why previous administrations let these resources sit untouched.
