This drama just keeps getting bigger. A Saudi employee at OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, Abdulrahman Alfozan, was arrested by the FBI for installing recording devices. Turns out, he’s also a partner at a Saudi venture capital firm, and one of his fellow partners is Saudi Prince Khalid Bin Bader Al Saud. The prince’s father used to work in the special operations division of Saudi intelligence. Although there’s no official statement yet saying this was directed by the Saudi government, given the background and motives, it’s hard not to be suspicious.
