Hardware wallets can block remote hackers, but they can't stop a knife to your face!
1️⃣ UK crypto blogger @rrealist shared his story: He was held at knifepoint during a home invasion, tied up with tape, and forced to transfer about $800,000—around $720,000 of which was in his Ledger wallet.
This is his personal account so far; no official police report has been seen yet.
2️⃣ Some security companies speculate this might be linked to the September Revolut customer data breach.
3️⃣ In the same week, Trezor started tightening its authorized reseller network. Trezor says this is a precaution and that no evidence of tampering with their devices has been found.
Supply chain issues are an industry-wide problem, and the risks of self-custody go beyond remote theft.
Here’s a self-protection checklist for everyone—save it if you can:
Don’t show off your holdings; avoid linking your identity, address, and portfolio.
Split large holdings across multiple wallets, use multisig, and don’t store everything on one device.
Only buy hardware wallets from official websites or authorized channels.
