[Vortexa: U.S. Blockade Reduces Iran's Crude Oil Exports to Zero, No Recovery in October]
According to a report by Gold Finance on October 14, energy intelligence platform Vortexa stated that the U.S. maritime blockade caused Iran's seaborne crude oil exports to drop to zero since the second week of September, with no recovery as of October 5. In early September, the 14-day average export volume was 230,000 barrels per day. Currently, Iran's offshore oil storage has decreased to 83 million barrels, with 43 million barrels stranded west of the Strait of Hormuz due to the U.S. blockade. Vortexa noted that the U.S. blockade effectively cut off Iran's crude oil passage out of the Persian Gulf. Iran's liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) exports fell by 48% month-on-month, hitting the lowest level since at least January 2023.
Meanwhile, Russia's crude oil exports in September increased by 6% month-on-month to 3.79 million barrels per day, accounting for approximately 80% of the combined high-risk crude oil exports from Iran, Russia, and Venezuela. The total exports from the three countries in September amounted to 4.73 million barrels per day, lower than the 6.39 million barrels per day during the same period last year. Additionally, excluding Iran, oil exports from the Gulf region have recovered to over 81% of pre-war levels, primarily driven by the rebound in Saudi exports.
