[Shipping Risks in the Strait of Hormuz Escalate: Over Ten Super Oil Tankers Turn Around or Change Course] According to a report by Golden Finance, on October 13, attacks by Iran targeting vessels crossing the Strait of Hormuz have surged, potentially threatening the recent recovery momentum of oil exports from the Persian Gulf. Shipping industry insiders stated that earlier this month, the volume of goods transported through the Strait of Hormuz had recovered to near pre-conflict levels, but signs of a potential slowdown in shipping traffic have emerged recently. However, there is currently no clear evidence indicating changes in crude oil loading activities among several major oil-producing countries in the region. A shipowner also noted that vessel passage through the Strait of Hormuz does not appear to be restricted. Caution among ship operators is becoming increasingly evident. Aggregated tanker tracking data shows that over ten ultra-large oil tankers and several Suezmax tankers have turned around or changed course near the UAE's Fujairah Port. This port, located near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, is a critical shipping hub. Ship brokers and some shipowners operating in the region have reported other signs of slowed shipping activity, particularly extended waiting times for ship-to-ship transfers. However, a shipowner involved in such operations stated that their activities have not yet been affected.
