[Goldman Sachs Pre-Market Rises Over 3%, Q3 Equity Trading Revenue Hits $6.44 Billion, Far Exceeding Expectations]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, on October 13, Goldman Sachs (GS.US) rose over 3% in pre-market trading. On the news front, Goldman Sachs' third-quarter equity trading business significantly outperformed expectations, while fixed income and interest rate trading revenue fell far short of Wall Street estimates. A statement released by Goldman Sachs on Tuesday showed that equity trading revenue reached $6.44 billion in the three months ending in September. This business had set a global banking industry record for the third consecutive quarter with its second-quarter revenue announced in July. Although third-quarter revenue was below the historical high of $7.42 billion set in the second quarter, it still exceeded the consensus analyst expectations. Fixed income and commodities trading revenue came in at $3.47 billion, far below expectations, representing a year-over-year decline of nearly 1%.
Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon had previously warned in September that third-quarter business performance would slow down. Trading facilitation drove Goldman Sachs' third-quarter growth, with investment banking fees reaching $3.22 billion, exceeding expectations. The asset management division's management fee revenue also hit a record high.
