[French Financial Regulator: Surge in Government Bond Yields Will Not Threaten Banking Sector Stability] France's top financial regulator stated on Tuesday that the French banking sector's exposure to domestic public debt remains limited, and even a surge in government bond yields would not pose a risk to financial stability. Emmanuelle Assouan, Secretary General of the French Prudential Supervision and Resolution Authority (ACPR), said at a press conference in Paris: 'We are quite reassured about the impact of recent government bond spread movements on banks.' She noted that this assessment takes into account the limited scale of public debt held by French banks and their diversified portfolios. According to a report released by the ACPR on Tuesday, by 2025, French banks are expected to hold approximately €190 billion ($213 billion) in domestic public debt, accounting for 24% of all sovereign bonds they hold and 2% of their total assets.
