[Anthropic Nears Agreement on Its First Data Center in Japan: 500MW Capacity, Located in Osaka] According to Deep Tide TechFlow on October 13, as reported by *Nikkei Asia*, negotiations between Anthropic and NTT DATA regarding Anthropic's first data center project in Japan have entered the final stages. The two parties are expected to reach a final agreement within this fiscal year, with partial operations starting as early as 2028. This AI computing facility will be located in Osaka, with an anticipated capacity of 500MW. The construction cost alone is estimated to exceed 1 trillion yen (Note from IT Home: approximately 42.291 billion RMB at the current exchange rate). It will also be equipped with a large number of high-value chips in the future. The report mentions that the AI data center will initially adopt behind-the-meter power supply methods (such as on-site power generation via fuel cells) to allow more time for the supporting power infrastructure to be put in place.
