[Macquarie: U.S. September CPI Accelerates, Unlikely to Prompt Fed Rate Hike in October]
Odaily Planet Daily News – Thierry Wizman, global strategist for foreign exchange and interest rates at Macquarie Group, stated in a report that the U.S. September CPI, set to be released on Wednesday, is expected to accelerate but is unlikely to prompt the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates in October. Wizman said, 'We believe this report will not alter the Fed's decision later this month on whether to raise rates.' He noted that several Fed officials have previously expressed a preference for a 'skip-meeting rate hike' approach rather than consecutive rate hikes. According to a Wall Street Journal survey, analysts expect the year-over-year growth rate of the U.S. September overall CPI to rise from 3.4% in August to 3.6%. Current market pricing indicates about a 19% probability of a Fed rate hike at the October 28 meeting. (Jin10)
