If crypto wants to better enter the mainstream and completely shake off the long-standing label of being an 'unsavory industry,' the sector needs to make more positive contributions to society. When outsiders only see news about industry players flaunting their wealth, getting hacked, scammed, or stories of massive liquidations and profits, it’s hard to expect society—already viewing us through a tinted lens—to grant us higher social standing. Charity is a great entry point. As long as it’s not fake donations and the money is genuinely given to vulnerable groups in need, it’s an impeccable way to accumulate goodwill, no matter how you look at it. More positive news will ultimately benefit every one of us in the industry. I remember Binance had a charity portal very early on, allowing people to donate transparently via blockchain. I just checked it out, and they’ve already donated $47 million, reaching over 4 million people across 86 countries. Back in 2020 during the Australian wildfires, I remember seeing reports about them raising funds to plant trees. I just looked it up, and they successfully raised $1M in the end. You can even see the purpose of every single donation on-chain, which is way more transparent than many traditional charities. That said, I do have some suggestions. Currently, the Binance Charity website updates projects a bit slowly, and many of them focus on remote countries. The promotion isn’t strong enough either, so a lot of people probably don’t even know this channel exists. In the future, if fundraising projects could be updated more promptly and cover more regions in Asia—especially for recent events happening around us—it would be even better. For example, with the recent landslides in Nepal and China, I had to search through several channels just to find a way to donate. @binancezh @heyibinance @cz_binance Binance is currently one of the most active players in the crypto space when it comes to charity. I hope they keep it up—truly a noble cause.
