According to Wu Blockchain, the latest research report from Bitcoin financial services platform River reveals that enterprises have remained the largest buyers of Bitcoin for the second consecutive year in 2026. So far this year, they have collectively added 193,000 BTC to their holdings, pushing the total global enterprise Bitcoin holdings to 1.64 million BTC (approximately 7.8% of Bitcoin's total supply). However, total enterprise inflows this year amounted to $15.7 billion, a sharp drop of about two-thirds compared to the same period in 2025.
The report highlights three main reasons for the slowdown in growth: the fading speculative frenzy of so-called "Bitcoin treasury strategy companies," with net purchases primarily dominated by Strategy and Strive; large mining companies have been net sellers of 32,800 BTC this year due to significant capital expenditures required for transitioning to AI computing infrastructure; and traditional enterprises have slowed their adoption pace amid the bear market. Despite this, the total number of publicly listed companies holding BTC has still grown by 10% this year, with Robinhood and SpaceX, both listed in June, disclosing holdings exceeding $1.5 billion each.
