[Epic Games Implements 'AI-First' Development, Requiring Teams to Use Claude and Cease Handwriting Code]
According to Bloomberg, Epic Games has delayed its collaboration with Disney on a shooting game featuring Marvel and Star Wars characters, originally scheduled for release in March 2027. Epic has also mandated that the project team adopt an 'AI-first' production model, utilizing tools such as Claude from Anthropic, while maintaining human oversight throughout the process. Reportedly, the game director instructed the team in an internal message to stop handwriting code, and all artistic content for the game will be generated through a fully AI-driven workflow, leaving some employees shocked. Epic's Communications Director, Jake Jones, stated that the company is embracing 'AI-accelerated development' led by Epic's developers.
