By Monday evening, tech stocks in the U.S. stock market and bitcoin:native both experienced pullbacks. From my personal understanding, the key factor is the rebound in oil prices, coupled with risk-averse sentiment ahead of Wednesday's CPI release, which reduces the willingness of funds to chase gains. Over the weekend, Trump released news about a potential Russia-Ukraine energy ceasefire and increased diesel supply from Russia, giving the market some hope for improved supply. However, the attack on a Saudi airport and tanker safety issues in the Strait of Hormuz have disrupted these expectations, pushing Brent crude oil back above $106. High oil prices increase corporate costs, squeeze household consumption, and make it harder to bring inflation down. Naturally, the market has to reconsider the possibility of high interest rates persisting longer or even further rate hikes, which puts pressure on tech stocks and BTC. Meanwhile, Wednesday's release of the U.S. September CPI will reflect the impact of the recent oil price surge on future inflation expectations. Funds already holding positions might choose to trim some, while those preparing to enter the market may wait for the data before making decisions. Increased selling pressure and cautious buying mean that even without large-scale sell-offs, prices are prone to pullbacks. So in the short term, the period before Wednesday's CPI release is relatively high-risk. Today, I bought dual-currency options expiring Wednesday afternoon, with the price set at $81,000. The probability of hitting the target is still decent, and even if it does, I'm not too worried. However, after Wednesday's release, Bitcoin's price might dip further.
