[UK High Court Rules Bitcoin Recovery in Qian Zhiming Case Subject to Chinese Law, Victims May Miss Out on Massive Gains]
Odaily Planet Daily News: In the cross-border asset recovery dispute involving over 61,000 bitcoins tied to the illegal fundraising case of Tianjin Lantian Gerui in China, the UK court has issued a significant ruling. On October 12 local time, Caixin obtained a judgment from the UK High Court, which determined that the property claims over the bitcoins in question, raised by Chinese investors, should be adjudicated under Chinese law rather than UK law. This means that approximately 16,000 Chinese victims who have participated in the UK recovery proceedings may not be able to share in the massive appreciation in bitcoin prices, and at most can only recover their principal and interest.
