[Stripe, Mastercard, and Circle Acquire Three Stablecoin Companies Within Two Years, Total Transaction Value Exceeds $3 Billion]
Odaily Planet Daily News – Venture capitalist Alex Lazarow wrote that over the past two years, Stripe, Mastercard, and Circle have respectively acquired U.S.-based stablecoin infrastructure company Bridge, UK-based stablecoin infrastructure company BVNK, and Singapore-based cross-border payment platform Tazapay, with the total value of the three transactions exceeding $3 billion.
In 2024, Stripe announced the acquisition of Bridge for slightly over $1 billion. Mastercard's acquisition of BVNK had a total transaction value of up to $1.8 billion, including a base price of $1.5 billion and a contingent consideration of $300 million. Circle agreed to acquire Tazapay for $400 million in stock, with the transaction expected to be completed in 2027.
Bridge, BVNK, and Tazapay were founded between 2020 and 2022, collectively raising approximately $200 million in funding. The growth in stablecoin adoption, the gradual clarification of regulatory frameworks, and the rising demand for real-time cross-border payments are the main drivers behind these acquisitions.
In 2025, adjusted stablecoin transaction volume is projected to grow 91% year-over-year, reaching $10.9 trillion, approaching Visa's $14.2 trillion. The scale of real-world payments is expected to more than double, reaching approximately $390 billion.
