Our industry often talks about technological innovation, financial inclusion, and how Web3 can change the world.
But for families who have lost everything in disasters, what they need most isn’t technological innovation or grand visions—it’s real, tangible help.
After last year’s Tai Po fire in Hong Kong, Binance donated HK$10 million to the Community Chest of Hong Kong. This made us reflect on a question: how should we truly measure the value of an industry leader?
Trading volume and user base are, of course, important—they reflect commercial success. But beyond that, shouldn’t we also consider the relationship between the company and the real world?
Businesses gain opportunities and resources from society, so they should also be willing to give back when society needs them. This applies whether it’s a traditional company or one in the crypto industry.
Good deeds deserve recognition!
This time, Binance received the “Outstanding Contribution Award” from the Community Chest of Hong Kong, giving us a concrete example of how crypto companies can engage with society and take on social responsibility.
The crypto space shouldn’t just be synonymous with hacks, asset theft, and fraud. We need more positive energy that society can see and feel.
Here’s hoping that news like this becomes more and more common in the future.
Because when a crypto company’s involvement in social good no longer feels extraordinary, it will signify that this industry has truly integrated into society.
