BTC is back near $83,500, and there’s still no obvious signal of long positions crowding in the Binance futures market for now. As of 18:00 on October 12, the open interest for Binance BTCUSDT perpetual contracts is approximately 94,200 BTC, with a total position value of around $7.868 billion USDT. Comparing 5-minute sampling data, the open interest has rebounded by about 3.06% from the low point on October 9, but the position value is still about 8% lower than the peak on October 5. The latest funding rate settled at 16:00 that day was +0.001866%. Long positions need to pay fees to short positions, but the rate remains relatively low. Looking at these two indicators together, after the price rebound, contract positions have indeed recovered somewhat, but there’s still no sign of a significant expansion in open interest or a sharp rise in funding rates. At least from the perspective of this Binance contract, the enthusiasm for longs chasing the rally remains relatively restrained. This is likely due to market expectations for Wednesday’s CPI data being bullish. Check out @Gate for trading in more markets.
