**[Apple Turns Home Cameras into "Non-Recording Sensors"]**
According to a report by Jinse Finance on October 12, Apple is developing an AI-powered home camera that "understands" but does not "record," replacing video recording with textual descriptions. The home security camera, codenamed J450, differs from similar products on the market as it does not record any video. Instead, the camera uses AI to analyze the home and surrounding environment, then pushes dynamic updates to users in the form of text descriptions.
In terms of appearance, the J450 is a compact metal cylinder, resembling an oversized tube of lip balm. Its sensor captures images at a low frame rate and uses facial recognition to determine which family member has entered or left the house. It can also recognize pets.
The J450 may utilize an embedded AI image sensor, similar to the technology Apple is reportedly testing for camera-equipped AirPods. These types of sensors can perform recognition tasks directly on the chip without transmitting image data off the chip.
