[Goldman Sachs: Strong Earnings Likely to Drive Further Gains in Global Stock Markets]
Goldman Sachs strategists have turned optimistic about the short-term outlook for global stock markets, believing that strong corporate earnings will drive markets, which are already near historic highs, even higher. The team led by Christian Mueller-Glissmann noted in a report that rising oil prices and bond yields have stalled the market rally, easing valuation pressures, while corporate earnings prospects remain robust. They upgraded their three-month rating on equities from neutral to overweight, aligning with their bullish stance for the next 12 months. Christian stated, "Earnings growth continues to support the stock market, and the recent valuation pullback has improved the risk-reward profile ahead of the third-quarter earnings season." Strategists from Wall Street institutions such as Bank of America and Barclays have also recently become more optimistic about the outlook for U.S. stocks, citing strong corporate earnings expectations as one of the reasons.
